Tile Stand

These Tile Stands are rated to be used from cone 06 to cone 6. A single Tile Stand is designed to hold up to five 4" tiles vertically (only at cone 06), but we are hearing that tiles are touching even at cone 06. Firing with one setter is not recommended.

We recommend firing all of your tiles (4" and 6") horizontally with two Tile Stands. 6" tiles must use two Tile Stands to avoid warpage. Sold individually.

The following stilts are used exclusively in lowfire glaze (cone 04-06) firings, when the piece is completely covered in glaze. The stilt's purpose is to hold the piece off the shelf, so the glaze does not glue the piece to the shelf when it melts. Using High Fire Stilts when firing stoneware or porcelain may cause the piece to deform.

• Choose a stilt, or combine several stilts, if necessary, large enough to evenly support and balance the piece.
• Stilts will leave marks in the fired glaze. The marks' edges may be sharp and should be sanded down.
• Keep the stilts' points clean and sharp to minimize marks.

Triangle Stilts

Triangle Stilts are used exclusively in lowfire glaze (cone 04-06) firings, when the piece is completely covered in glaze. The stilt's purpose is to hold the piece off the shelf, so the glaze does not glue the piece to the shelf when it melts. Use the size that best fits your ware in size and weight.
