Minerals & Pigments: G

Georgies offers a wide variety of raw materials for clays, glazes and other uses. If you don't find the materials you need, please contact us. We may be able to get it for you OR suggest suitable replacements. The Occupational Health & Safety Administration devised this color-coded numerical ratings system to quickly and easily summarize the levels of risk through various means of exposure to potentially hazardous chemicals. Safety Data Sheets contain more detailed information about any risks posed by chemicals or raw materials, along with handling, cleanup and first aid instructions. Georgies maintains a library of SDS forms for the materials we sell. To request copies, please contact us by phone, fax or email.

Amaco Gum Solution
As glazes and underglazes age, the binder can break down causing peeling, crawling and cracking. By adding gum solution one tablespoon per pint at a time, you can slow the drying time of the glaze making it brush easier and diminish cracking and peeling issues. Continue to add gum solution a little at a time until the problem is resolved. You may need to add additonal water as well to regain the right consistency for brushing (CMC based).
Dry glazes are formulated as dipping glazes and need gum solution to make them brushable. Once the glaze has been made, add ½ cup of gum solution per gallon of glaze.

Georgies Glaze Fix

Glaze Fix helps aid suspension in your glazes that have separated or dead-panned. Use it the same as Darvan 7, adding 1-2 tsp per pint. Mix thoroughly and if it does not brush well, add 1-2 Tbsp of Gum Solution. Available in 4oz and Pints (click on drop down menu to select your size.)
